European and International Networks

The Consumer Protection Service participates in and/or supports European and international networks, with a view to ensuring the highest level of protection of safety and economic interests of the consumers of Cyprus.

Ευρωπαϊκό Κέντρο Καταναλωτή European Consumer Centre Cyprus (ECC Cyprus)
European Consumer Centre Cyprus serves EU consumers shopping for goods and services on the European market, providing them with advice on their EU consumer rights and helping them with their disputes with traders in other EU countries.
The Rapid Alert System enables quick exchange of information between 31 European countries and the European Commission about dangerous non-food products posing a risk to health and safety of consumers.

The Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) is a network of authorities responsible for enforcing EU consumer protection laws in EU/EEA countries. Broadly it functions as follows:
  • any authority in a country (where consumers' rights are being violated) can ask its counterpart (in the country where the trader is based) to take action to stop this violation.
  • authorities can also alert each other to malpractices that could spread to other countries.
  • authorities, with the facilitation of the Commission, can also coordinate their approach on the application of consumer protection law to address wide-spread infringements.
Λογότυπο ICPENThe International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN)
ICPEN is an organization composed of consumer protection authorities from over 50 countries, whose aim is to protect consumers’ economic interests around the world, share information about cross-border commercial activities that may affect consumer welfare, and encourage global cooperation among law enforcement agencies.
