It has come to our attention that from time to time, fraudulent scams are conducted by individuals or organizations claiming to represent the Consumer Protection Service of the Republic of Cyprus (CPS). This type of fraud tends to occur through emails, most of the times claiming that the CPS is an independent regulator responsible for the supervision and regulation of the financial marker and also that the CPS is licensed to conduct financial consulting activities offshore in the name of the Republic of Cyprus.
A fraudulent signed license certificate is even attached to this email to confirm the claim. The aim of the fraud is to mislead you into believing you are being contacted by the CPS, in relation to investment activities of your company in Cyprus, claiming that they will procced to refund any amounts lost in these investments.
The Consumer Protection Service of Cyprus is a public (non-profit) authority and is not dealing with financial consulting neither in Cyprus nor globally. We urge anybody who received such emails to be on alert against scammers, not to respond to the fraudulent messages and not to reveal or submit sensitive information.
