The Public Health Services are responsible for food safety, the monitoring and control of imported foodstuffs and the official control of the food consumed, distributed, marketed or produced. It is noted that most municipality authorities run their own health service.
The mission of Veterinary Services is to protect the public health through the controls of all food of animal origin. Such food includes meat, minced meat, game, fishery products, milk and dairy products, meat products (e.g. sausages) and egg products. Please note that for ice-cream the responsible authority is the Public Health Service.
The Department of Agriculture is responsible for the control of feeding stuffs.
